Empires just released their first album, Howl. It's up for free download on their site and it's INCREDIBLE. "Modern Love" makes me dance. I'm so in love with the piano on "My Poor Lover"; I mean, in love rather like I'm in love with Matt Bellamy's piano. Nnngh.

I'm trying to think of a band to compare them to, and I can't. They're like nothing else on my playlist, but ah, they're so SO good, god. I need them to come to Kansas City when they tour. I love that the album is an accident--they were going to record demos, and they made an album instead. Who does that? *hugs Empires*

I've got it downloaded (all hello_ilu's fault), and listened to most-of-the-way-through, and - idk. no 'instant love' but at the same time, it's not bad. But then, I reacted the same way to 'Pretty.Odd.' at first, and now I love it, so. Found myself thinking 'baby mychem!' at a few points. That first song; I was going 'I will shoot someone in the foot if they sing 'I will guide you in the night' one more time, I -swear-'. Although. it wasn't completely -no- instant-love - I -adored- 'Believe!', mainly for the whole choral texture. That one felt 'Pretty.Odd.'-ish in parts. I should probably listen to the rest now? I only got down to 'All Night Long' before getting called away; *gets back to that*

Oh! And! If you're looking for more new-ish bands to look at, I'm -adoring- Black Gold atm - they've a dl-album out, it is all piano-y and gorgeous *_* (although, they were better live - they opened for Panic when I saw them in Leeds, just before P.O. came out)

Oh, no, the album's iTunes-type download ~ cost me a fiver to buy a card with a url & code from the merch table, but it isn't physically out. s'sad; more people should make music free. but then, how'd they make their living? so. ;.;
