Un. Real. I halfway don't believe it actually happened. I'm serious. I feel like... holy shit, these guys actually exist? I could have sworn Pete made them up. (...also, I kind of want fic where Pete DOES make them up. Like that one where he makes Patrick up. BUT THIS IS NOT ABOUT FOB, so I will hush now.) All the times I've said "how are they real?" I was only partially joking. It was crazy to actually see them. So let's get to the recap, and maybe I'll believe it happened if I look at the pictures long enough.
I got to the theater at about ten til 6. (The show began at 7.) I should probably have arrived earlier, but I was exhausted enough by the end that I doubt an extra few hours of waiting in line would have improved my enjoyment of the show. I hadn't comprehended exactly how many people in this area were PatD fans. It's the midwest, for goodness's sake. But here's what the line looked like when I joined it:

Yes, that is two and a half blocks of line. A marks the theater on the corner. B marks where I joined the line. The blue line is how far the line stretched. Luckily it moved quickly once the doors opened at 6, and I got into the theater maybe forty minutes later.
Obviously, I did not get barrier. But I still got decently close, because half of the line went straight to buy merch, whereas I scurried immediately into the not-even-half-full theater. There were also a few forward surges that got me within ~15-20 feet of the stage. Definitely not a bad spot at all, and it made for some awesome pictures. This is the theater, with a black square marking about where I was. Ryan frequently walked out onto that left-hand pointy bit on the stage and played extremely prettily. Photos do not do that boy justice, I swear. He is even more ridiculously pretty in real life.

I had gone to the concert alone, which was rather terrifying, but I ended up running into a couple of people that I knew, which made it less terrifying--Jen from my English class and Isak from my graduation.
I did not pay extremely close attention to the opening bands, though I did enjoy them lots and will be buying their music as soon as I can.
[Note: The photos get exponentially better during the Hushies' set, because I finally figured out how to take pictures in a dark room. Please excuse the blurriness of the first few pictures. I also didn't get nearly as much video as I would have liked, because I have a tiny memory card and prefer to take photos. Also my camera has a stupid video autofocus that made it keep trying to focus on the audience instead, but mostly I made it behave. It has awesome sound, in any case? 8D]
Phantom Planet
They were fantastic. I don't remember very much except that I liked them and want their album. I do know that they played "California" (I DIDN'T KNOW "CALIFORNIA" WAS THEIRS o_O) and halfway through changed to singing "Kansas City," which was very sweet of them. ♥ ALEX IS RIDICULOUSLY PRETTY, YOU GUYS. See?

The Hush Sound came out and played with them for a short time.
Greta played the drums! Which was ridiculously hot.

The Hush Sound
I HAVE THE HUGEST CRUSH ON GRETA. ♥♥♥ And not a small one on Bob, either. Apparently most of the crowd felt the same way--when he came down and sat on the barrier (as all the opening bands' singers did), he let quite a few people touch his face. Uh.

Bob played Darren's drums a few times, too. ♥
Motion City Soundtrack
Can I just say how kickass this band's name is? Mmm. Justin started telling us about a dude he knew named Carmen, but he never finished the story. *woe* Also, Jesse attacked his keyboard most of the time he played. It was awesome. ♥ Here, have a Justin, during the approximately 1 time he held still.

Justin said he'd started working out and apologised to anyone who had seen--I'm not sure, apparently it's a half-naked photo of him? MY SOUL TO ANYONE WHO CAN SHOW ME. Anyway, the crowd vehemently disagreed that seeing the photo had been a bad thing. WHAT IS IT WITH LEAD SINGERS AND BODY ISSUES. :( These dudes are gorgeous, okay!
Justin: "Any hairy legs in the house? Male or female?" ♥♥♥
Panic at the...fuck it, you know how it goes.
I have no idea what order their setlist was in, other than that they began with "We're So Starving." But this is complete as far as I know. Links go to my videos of them.

- Which is even more smoking hot live. Oh god, Brendon. After "fuck" he has this little smile and it kills me.
Behind The Sea
- In which a bubble machine was employed, because you can't have the sea without bubbles, or something. Bubbles also showed up in "Mad as Rabbits."
Northern Downpour [FULL RECORDING!]
- I had to have the whole recording of this because it is my FAVOURITE SONG EVER. My hands were shaking so badly by the end of it that I couldn't hold my camera steady. I was...well, I was definitely crying, but I was so out of breath and probably dehydrated that it was more like really violent dry sobs, which can't have been pretty at all, but I care so VERY LITTLE because I GOT TO CRY AT LIVE!NORTHERN DOWNPOUR. Life = made. I hate my camera for trying to autofocus on people's HANDS. NO NO NO I WANT THE SINGING BOYS. :( I still haven't managed to rewatch the video because it makes me want to cry again. I am so in love with this song. [eta the next morning: watched. cried. AUGH THIS SONG.]
Folkin' Around
- I said after I heard this on the album that I didn't really like it, but that I thought I might like it live. I was right. It is KICKASS live, and I might just like the album track more now.
a moment of mutual guitar-playing
Mad As Rabbits [partial]
- Ryan sings this NEARLY ALL BY HIMSELF OMG. ♥ God, I am proud of that boy. And Brendon leaped onto Spencer's kit to play for him and did I mention that Spencer has an AMAZING smile, because he does! Also, Brendon plays the tambourine...by hitting himself on the head with it. AHAHAHA. (They all played tambourine, excepting Spencer, but Brendon's method of playing is my favourite.) And Brendon screamed at least twice, both of which I caught--this video and the following one. XD Darling, be careful with your voice!
"we must reinvent love" (after which my camera's memory was full *woe*)
I wish I'd had time to write down which song went where and why each one was awesome, but I was basically incapable of coherent thoughts during the set.
- PatD sounds even better when Brendon doesn't have to, like, harmonise with himself. Holy shit, boys. AND JON SINGS A WHOLE LOT!
- Brendon sangone song "Time to Dance" COMPLETELY all by himself, while the rest of PatD went off stage for awhile. Fuck, I can't remember which it was. I want to say "Time To Dance" but I could be wrong.
- Brendon talked about how it was really hot in the theater (it WAS, oh my god), then said "Take your clothes off!"
- - Jon: "I'd like to invite you all to a pool party back at my house." He also spent half the show in sunglasses.
- Spencer was extraordinarily hot. When was the last time he cut his hair?
- Ryan Ross is unrealistically gorgeous. I may have mentioned this.
- Ryan and Jon talked more than Brendon! BODYSWITCH! They made Brendon crack up and double over laughing multiple times and it was incredibly adorable.
- Brendon with a range plus actual voice control is some dangerous stuff. He was having fun showing off all the cool things he can do with his voice, making dorky faces all the while.
- Jon mentioned that "it's official, I've lost three or four pounds since I've been on stage," and that he does push-ups before shows. He pointed to Ryan and said Ryan does them too, to which Ryan replied "...you could call them that." He said he's getting stronger though, and to look how big his arms were getting!...while holding up his tiny little bird-bone arms. Ryan, darling, I have the same kind of arms as you. We will always be...lean. There's no hope. XD;
- I forgot what led up to it, but Ryan said "If [something doesn't happen], you'll have to arm-wrestle me after the show! [crowd shrieks] No, I'm getting stronger!"
- Ryan: "This is the best Sunday night I've had in a long time."
- Spencer: "It's fucking hot in here!"
- Brendon: *to the crowd* "TAKE OFF YOUR CLOTHES!"
- Ryan: "Kansas City, you're looking gooood tonight!"
- It was kind of them to put Spencer where he was actually visible! ♥
- The crowd was awesome, too. People didn't push or jostle too hard. Not that there weren't a few jackasses--namely, the long string of people that steamrolled their way to the front by shoving people very hard (I was thrown into the people next to me, but nobody got hurt), and the woman standing next to me who purposely smacked me with her shoulder several times while I was already jammed up against people on all sides. (Literally, I could not move in any direction.) I turned to tell her I couldn't move because I was already being crushed, and she yelled that her daughter (who looked about eight--what is an eight-year-old doing in a crowd like that anyway?) couldn't see and that I should "JUST MOVE!" ...fuck you, lady. She was actually really scary, and when the crowd shifted again, I got as far away from her as possible. There's a big difference between having perfectly nice people crushing you (but trying not to) versus having people crushing you to make you move or else. Jesus Christ! Where you get stuck in the crowd is where you get stuck. I am sorry if you are eight years old and four feet tall, but you are just not going to have a very good view, and plus that it isn't really safe for you, especially not with your mom pissing people off. o_O;
Things I was hoping for that didn't happen:
- Ryan didn't play "Do the Panic" with Phantom Planet.
- PatD didn't come out to see fans after the show. It was a very nice night and not many people had stayed behind, so it wasn't like riot conditions or anything, so I don't know. (But to the people who didn't move when Zack said move: wow, you guys must have had a death wish. o.O)
Ah well. Other concerts will happen and I will definitely attend. I really want to see PatD again. *longs for*
OKAY IT'S PHOTO TIME. \0/ It was like Brendon and Ryan had their own little shows--Brendon was the Dorky Faces Show and Ryan was the Play to Spencer, Hide Behind the Mic, and (Almost) Never Lift His Head Show.
This is actually the very last photo I took, but hey, it's a fine beginning.

Take a good look at my MOST GORGEOUS SHOT OF RYAN of the night, because he won't be raising his head much after this. *headdesk*

Ryan's playing for Spencer.

Dorky face is go. I wonder sometimes what is going through his head when he's up there. Something like, "I shall make them all weak in the knees with my hotness! *dorkface*" perhaps?

I would like to note the incredible lighting PatD has in their shows. Not only do they encourage photo-taking, but they make it really easy for people to take decent photos. I have no idea if that's on purpose, but I appreciate it.

Aaand Ryan's playing for Spencer again.

When Ryan's face was visible, it was often behind the mic. *woe*

Ah, that's an improvement! Perhaps he has the hang of it now.

Jonbaby, why you gotta stand so far away? Oh, forearms. *has a moment* ...all right, I'm good now.

By this point, everybody's hair was sticking to their faces, including Brendon's. \0/

Oh yes, do feel free to stare at Brendon while you sing.

I'm not certain, but...might this be a Shane? I didn't even see him in one of my photos until I was going through them later.

This is probably "Behind the Sea," judging by the bubbles.

My best photo of Jon. There is nothing I don't love about this picture, up to and including the kickass keyboardist in the background whose name I cannot remember, even though I know he plays for PatD ALL THE TIME.

Keyboardist is playing some kind of shaker. Brendon is being hot stuff.

I'm so in favour of Ryan and his button-down flower-print shirts. HEARTS.

Okay, so I'm in a polyamorous relationship with Jon's forearms and Ryan's shoulders.

Right before one of the mic-sharing bits--I think it was a different one than this; there were many--Brendon put his hand on the back of Ryan's neck and pulled him over to the stand. ngh boys. ♥

Jon: "I'm just going to wear this towel on my head."

They totally put Ryan's drink in front of Spencer to make fans tinhat. He would take a drink, then just...hang out and play at Spencer for awhile. Ahaha Ryan ilu.

Brendon, do you even possess any body fat at all? I mean, your LEGS. *boggle*

It wasn't only Ryan who hung out with Spencer. Hi, keyboardist whose name I really want to know! And HI, JON'S FOREARM! (This is when Jon came over to my side of the stage for a bit.)

Brendon is one serious rockstar.

Here's a fine shot of...Ryan's hair. Um.

That's better.

I like to call the next three photos "Brendon Urie is one pretty dude." This is when he was all by himself onstage and I so wish I could recall what it was he was singing, but I have a shitty musical memory. And Brendon's arms can definitely join in with Jon's arms and Ryan's shoulders.

Don't get me wrong, Ryan is a pretty dude too.

There are two reasons I took this photo. 1) Brendon is headbanging. 2) A terribly shallow reason that has lots to do with the skinny little dude with the shoulders and the hips and the legs and the--um, the body part of which I'm really, really approving even though it's almost nonexistent. Wow, that was a long sentence. Did it cover up my shallowness? No? Ah well. Enjoy.

THE END! (Approximately SIX HOURS after I started typing this thing.)
I got to the theater at about ten til 6. (The show began at 7.)
